A special offer as part of the project work is the teaching of traditional Indian music (Kirtan), an offer that is open to all children in the village regardless of whether they attend school or not. Kirtan is very well recognised in the area and is also very popular in our project village.
We have found a wonderful musician and teacher in Ranjodh Singh. Lessons in singing traditional tone sequences and melodies (ragas) are the first step in practising. We also provide traditional instruments (mainly Dilruba and Sarangi), which are used to play instruments and sing together on a daily basis.
In addition to group lessons, the children have individual learning phases.
The music lessons support the children’s concentration and learning success.
In this way, kirtan opens up special opportunities for the children in the future.
